In an attempt to revisit the conventional Beiruti apartment layout, EA residence is an exercise at individualizing the typical spaces while preserving an overall sense of coherence and warmth. Therefore, rather than reading entrance, family dining, kitchen, bar, TV room, formal dining, reception area, corridor, master bedroom; each one of those spaces becomes permeable to the other through an opening, a sliding door or an internal window and acquires individuality through either an expressed spatial volume or an absence of expression in between volumes. In order to further emphasize this differentiation, every volume is given a particular vein and color of wood, an expression that is carried all the way to the walls and ceiling of every volume creating a variety of situations that include art display, built-in functional objects, mobile shading on windows or cabinetry.
