BLANKPAGE OFFICES

NAHR EL MOTT, LEBANON - COMPLETED 2012
Not conceived any differently than projects for others, our own office is a testimony of the same blank page philosophy: maximizing potential through the simplicity of minimal architectural moves. Benefiting from a big span 13.5m space, the office is an open platform that receives furniture clusters that house the design teams working on communal wooden tables, only separated from the more public area by a light steel skeleton partition where a variety of plants compose an uncontrolled wilderness. At the entrance, a dual perspective opens. While to the right, lit as in a museum, models exhibit the end-products of the architectural process on a black background, the left wall extents in a more or less systematic layout of materials, catalogues and construction samples that are a live presentation of the design (in) process.
Moving towards the open platform that acts either as an exhibition space, informal meeting space, or a simple multi-potential surface, the space expands into a working/presenting/administrative environment that orchestrates openness on the platform and privacy behind the wrapping black wall already seen at the entrance. Inside, the presentation/meeting room is a black box theater-like space while the triangle office is the administrative space of all the triumvir members. As for the canteen and service area at the opposite side, a translucent linen curtain is enough for the definition of their privacy.
All in all, our office-as-platform is a celebration of the pleasure of team work in a green cocoon amidst a harsh industrial landscape.
